Yeah, they're not. I mean, one of the avatars I met, he doesn't believe they think at all, not like we'd understand it. All the avatars are just guessing because the entities... they sing. Sort of. it's weird. The conversation ended with him thinking about throwing me off a roller coaster so... weird.

Oh the poem was- sort of? But about me too. And the situation when I was living in the Archives.

[Martin smiles back, a little shy, but welcoming.]

Yeah, come on in.

[He shuts the door behind him and moves further in, lingering an uncertain moment too long in front of where Martin's settled.]

I'd have just started face-to-face, but didn't want you to feel pressured either if the offer held no appeal. Easier to turn someone down over text for some, I've found.

[A pause and his smile turns slightly lopsided.]

Glad you didn't, for record.

Yeah, probably. Makes sense.

[He smiles back, a little awkward still, but genuine.]

Me too. Do you want to sit down?

That makes sense. I suppose you'd have little else to think about. Did you read statements too while you were down there? They don't do anything for you, right?

I don't think he meant it literally. But... call people, try to transmit their desires to people.

He said something like... it's like trying to recreate a piece of music you heard in a dream, when you have never heard music before.

I read a few statements. Got the same weird feelings as Jon, but I never read as much as him, so no, I don't need them to live or anything. If I was going to feed on trauma I'm pretty sure it would be making people feel really lonely.

Oh! It's a kind of... You know the trains here? Like those, but smaller, open-topped, going really fast, on a track that has steep drops and sometimes goes upside down.

[Might be less awkward than standing there staring at him. He was not usually this...this, but between being a bit of a mess recently and not wanting to be a mess for Martin, it neither was working particularly well.

He moves to sit cross-legged in front of him with a small, but earnest smile.]

Not against doing something tonight, if you'd like, but there's no pressure after just saying yes in general...I would like to ask permission to kiss you, though, if I may.

[Martin shifts a little to make sure Chris has space to settle down. It feels awkward a bit, but a good awkward? Sweet, he thinks.]

Oh... permission granted?

[He laughs and covers his face.]

Oh god, I am bad at this.

[Chris smiles wide and shakes his head.]

I'm usually more smooth than this...but I think we can figure it out.

[He leans in, hands gentle and slow as they curl around Martin's wrists, though he doesn't pull them away yet. He presses a quick kiss to the back of his fingers before tugging to move them.]

Easier to get to your lips this way.

[Chris leans in further, smile soft as he presses his lips to Martin's lightly to start.]

[Oh! That's a bit- the kiss to his fingers is sweet, makes him flush and that's still there when Chris does pull his hands away from his face. He's smiling, warm, and the soft press of lips is wonderful, honestly. He kisses back, just as slow and careful.]

I think you're plenty smooth.

I know that feeling intimately. An impression of will by something too big for the mortal mind to handle.

Hard to imagine you making people feel lonely. Your presence is rather enjoyable to me.

That sounds like a fucking nightmare. What is it, a torture device for enemy forces or something?

Yes! Something like that. You can only grasp a tiny portion of the whole.

...uh... no? It's a ride at fairgrounds and theme parks. You pay money to ride them. For fun.

Hold on, this is the only thing I can think about right now.

These are on fairgrounds? You pay money to hurtle quickly through the air in a metal box with nothing but gravity and faith to keep you from dying?

They're pretty safe actually! I mean, very few people die on them.

You know, they're carefully designed to be safe.

Very few. Not none.

For record, I'm not worried about dying, I'm worried about turning green from being so ill.

The trains here are not kind and we don't get on.

I mean, people still drive cars and lots more people die in those. Or aeroplanes.

You don't use the trains? Really?

You would not survive London.

I have a motorcycle, wings, and the ability to teleport to specific places, I don't need terrible trains.

Does London exist solely on train transport?

And I dread to ask but what are aeroplanes?

No. I mean, you can take a car or there are buses, but the trains and the tube are really convenient and if you drive in the middle of the city you're an idiot.

Oh... planes are flying machines? They transport people through the air.

Because of traffic? If I go to London, I'll be sure to fly.

See? Now that sounds useful and like a wonderful idea. It would open up so many places to people who can't or won't take months to travel.

You might draw a bit of attention doing that since no-one else can.

And yeah. I guess. But trains do the same thing! You can get to another country in like... an hour.

Half the people here don't know I fly and there's only one other guy with wings in Duplicity.

Look I'm not arguing their usefulness, when I saw one first off, I thought it was clever!
But all my insides aim to be outsides when I'm on one, which is not a good time for anybody.

[Chris chuckles, warmth filling the uncertain parts of him. It wasn't a familiar feeling but he...this was different. He charmed and seduced because it was fun and being turned down was no hardship, but...it might be a bit more of a hardship from Martin. Chris liked him and his approval mattered...perhaps a little more than he'd initially considered.

A better thing to realize with that sweet smile to greet him.]

Well, your opinion's what matters.

[When he leans in to kiss him again, it's with a little more pressure, a little more heat, but still largely chaste. He lets go of one wrist to cup Martin's cheek instead.]

The tourists probably do. They're there to see the fancy buildings and the palace and stuff.

Alright. I suppose they must be strange if you're really not used to them. Never much thought about it. They're just a fact of life at home.
